Scale Ticket

The primary transaction record at a scrap yard or weigh station — captures who, what, weight, price, and signatures for one inbound or outbound load.

## What is a scale ticket?

A **scale ticket** (also: weigh ticket, weight ticket) is the legal record of a single weighing event. Two flavors:

- **Inbound (purchase) ticket:** Buying scrap from a seller.
- **Outbound (sales) ticket:** Shipping to a mill or end-user.

## Mandatory fields (varies by state)

- Ticket number (sequential, no skips).
- Date and time.
- Operator ID.
- Seller / buyer name, address, ID type and number.
- Vehicle plate.
- Material code, weight, price.
- Gross / tare / net.
- Seller signature (digital is fine in most states).

## State retention

Most states require **3 to 7 years** of retention. WeighPay retains forever on cloud archive.

## How WeighPay handles scale tickets

WeighPay reads the scale indicator, prints the legal ticket with a sequential number, captures all required signatures and IDs, and archives the ticket as a non-editable PDF.
