How to Enroll AI Vision License Plate Recognition (LPR)

Stand up WeighPay's AI License Plate Recognition so returning customers, plate-to-account links, and tare weights pre-load automatically as trucks roll onto the scale.

What you'll need

• ONVIF-compatible IP camera positioned at the scale lane
• Network cable and PoE switch (or 12V power)
• Camera IP address and admin credentials

Steps

1. 1. Mount the camera

   Mount the camera so it sees a clean view of the license plate as a truck stops on the scale. Aim for plate height ~ 100–150px in the frame.

2. 2. Add the camera to WeighPay

   Open Admin → Hardware → AI Cameras → Add Camera. Enter the IP, ONVIF user, and password. WeighPay pulls a live preview.

3. 3. Train a starter plate set

   Drive 5–10 returning trucks across the scale. WeighPay's AI captures each plate. Confirm or correct the OCR for any plate it asks about.

4. 4. Link plates to customer accounts

   From the Plate Registry, drag each captured plate onto the matching customer. WeighPay stores tare weight and default commodity for future visits.

5. 5. Watch a live ticket auto-fill

   Wait for a trained truck to pull on. The ticket screen should pre-fill customer, tare, and commodity within 2 seconds of plate capture.

6. 6. Tune accuracy over time

   Open AI Vision → Accuracy Report weekly. Confirm or correct flagged low-confidence reads so the model keeps improving.
