How to Set Up Scale Integration in WeighPay

Connect your industrial truck scale or bench scale to WeighPay so weights flow into tickets automatically — no manual keystrokes.

What you'll need

Indicator with a serial or Ethernet port (Rice Lake, Avery, METTLER, Cardinal, Fairbanks, etc.)
Serial-to-USB adapter or networked indicator with IP address
A workstation or tablet running WeighPay 365

1. Cable the scale to your workstation
Connect the indicator to the WeighPay workstation using a serial-to-USB adapter or Ethernet cable. Confirm the indicator is powered on and streaming weight.
2. Open Scale Settings in WeighPay
Sign in to WeighPay 365, open Admin → Hardware → Scales, and click Add Scale.
3. Pick the indicator make and model
Choose your indicator from the supported list (Rice Lake, Avery, METTLER, Cardinal, Fairbanks). WeighPay loads the correct baud rate, parity, and string parser automatically.
4. Test the live weight stream
Press Test Connection. Place a known weight on the scale and confirm WeighPay reads the same value the indicator shows.
5. Assign the scale to a lane
Tag the scale with a lane name (Inbound, Outbound, Bench 1). Operators will see this label on the ticket screen when capturing a weight.
6. Capture your first ticket
Open a new ticket, press Capture Weight, and WeighPay locks in the indicator reading. The ticket is timestamped and audit-logged.
